General English
CEA General English programs focus on tasks for everyday, real English use. A task is something you can do in English.
General English programs are based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks that are used in Canada to teach and test language learning for adults. The benchmarks are organized in 3 stages and 12 levels. The benchmarks describe tasks that people can do in listening, speaking, reading and writing. The chart (below) shows how the benchmarks are arranged.

The program design also takes into account the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (below).
Each lesson is built to replicate specific social or industry situations and related vocabulary, grammar and structures. Each lesson builds upon the last and expands ideas and information in a step-by-step approach. These lessons make up several units that are also progressive in scope.
